Maersk Line digitally automates freight rates distribution

A.P. Moller´s Maersk Line just confirmed the live launch of its digital fully automated distribution of its contract rates and amendments, according to CargoSphere confirmed World Maritime News.

In essence, the container giant is now distributing digitally its rates to shippers, NVOCCs, BCO shippers, freight forwarders and logistic service providors using CargoSphere electronic Smart Upload and Diagnostics Solution (eSUDS) and the CargoSphere Rate Mesh.

They are expencting to reduce time and save costs improving data accuracy and timeliness by online access that will improve decision making, a quicker invoice conciliation anda a quicker tool for the transport intermediates such as NVOCCs and Freight Forwarders.

“Digital ocean rate distribution removes many of the manual processes that have acted as a drag on rates management for many years (…) Having Maersk Line go live on the CargoSphere platform is a big signal of its intent to transform its own key processes and the industry solutions it takes to market,” Neil Barni, Managing Director of CargoSphere, commented.

CargoSphere announced in March that it had begun providing a direct data feed of global ocean rates and tariffs from Hapag-Lloyd to its customers. Furthermore, other shipping lines are expected to utilize the digital platform, nonetheless still none have confirmed this information.

CargoSphere is one of the pioneers of browser-based international freight rate and contract management tools. The North Carolina-based company was founded in 1999 by current managing director Neil Barni and was acquired in 2017 by WiseTech Global, a freight forwarding software provider headquartered in Australia.
