ZIM has completed the first LNG bunkering operation under its new $1 billion 10-year purchase and sale agreement with Shell.

The 15,000 teu LNG dual-fuel ZIM SAMMY BID was fueled at Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited (KFTL), a new bunkering location for Shell, and the first simultaneous operation (SIMOPS) with offshore LNG bunkering. Jamaica. The ZIM SAMMY OFFER is equipped with ME-GI two-stroke engines (type M, electronically controlled gas injection) and has a methane slip of around 0.2%.

ZIM will operate the vessel on its Asia-USEC Container Service Pacific (ZCP) business line, with Shell ultimately supplying ten LNG-fuelled units in the service. Delivery of the remaining vessels will take place over the next ten months with the last unit due in January 2024.
