The U.S. Coast Guard medevaced a man suffering from severe burns on board a fishing vessel in the Bering Sea on Monday.
The rescue took place approximately 46 miles southwest of Saint Paul in the Aleutian Islands.
The Coast Guard reported that watchstanders in the 17th District command center received a medevac request at 9:56 a.m. from FV Bountiful for a crewmember with severe burns.
An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Kodiak safely hoisted the 43-year-old man at 2:56 p.m. and transferred him to awaiting emergency medical services personnel in Saint Paul for further transport to Anchorage.
On-scene weather conditions at the time were reported to be 46 mph winds, 8-12 foot seas, and 12 miles visibility.
