Hapag-Lloyd proposes to distribute €11.1bn ($11.9bn) in dividends to investors for fiscal 2022, pending approval by its supervisory board in March.

The payment, which is equivalent to EUR 63 per share, represents an 80% increase over 2021, when shareholders received EUR 35 per share. Hapag-Lloyd recently announced EBIT of €17.5bn for 2022, up from €9.4bn a year earlier.

Investment bank JP Morgan this month maintained its sell rating on the company after the release of preliminary quarterly figures. The bank said earnings were in line with expectations and it would now look at the current year forecast for next month. Most analysts predict a 30-45% drop in the German line share price.
