Like every year Hapag-Lloyd will be launching in November its AsiaWCSA ‘Cherry Express’ seasonal offering that caters for the export of cherries from Chile to the Chinese and Asian markets.
The ‘Cherry Express’ is based on Hapag’s Far East – WCSA ‘AN1’ weekly service, operated jointly with ONE (which brands the line ‘AX1’), HM (‘NW1’) and MSC (slots only – ‘Inca’). The seasonal offering will see Hong Kong served as first port of call of the ‘AN1’ in Asia, directly after Valparaiso in Chile. Transit time between the two ports will be 22 days.
Hong Kong is used as a gateway to dispatch the cherries to the Chinese market as well as a transhipment point for other Asian destinations. This year, Yantian will also be used as a gateway for China.
The first direct Valparaiso – Hong Kong sailing will be offered by the 10,010 teu SEASPAN BRIGHTNESS from Valparaiso on 15 November, arriving in Hong Kong on 10 December. The last sailing will take place in week 51.
The adjusted ‘AN1’ will call at Hong Kong, Yantian, Keelung, Shanghai, Ningbo, Busan, Manzanillo (Mexico), Lazaro Cardenas, Callao, Iquique, Antofagasta (1/2), Valparaiso, Coronel, Valparaiso (cherry export call), Hong Kong (cherry import call).
In addition, there will be three extra loaders during the peak season, the 4,178 teu AMALTHEA, and the 2,782 teu ETE N, linking San Antonio with Nansha in weeks 50 and 51 and the 8,827 teu VALUE, linking San Antonio with Shanghai in week 51.
