COLOMBIA: Investors ask new president to boost the offshore industry
Colombia Offshore : The manager of the National Association of Businessmen (Andi) Atlantic and Magdalena section called on the new government to boost the development of the offshore industry, Alberto Vives, said that the issue has been “stopped”.
He indicated that the National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH) has taken almost two years to draw up the contracts for the sector and that “government dynamics” are required for investments to be reactivated.
The union knows that the oil companies are ready to make offshore investments, which will bring greater competitiveness to the country and the region.
The Atlantic city of Barranquilla in the north of Colombia has made a permanent and committed work to encourage and prepare for the growth of the offshore industry.
Vives said that the objective of boosting offshore favored the initiative to turn Barranquilla into an energy capital, with the nomination that Aberdeen made to WECP, which generates greater benefits, not only against the offshore but to all the dynamics of the energy sector .
There are already 25 contracts
According to the information provided by the ANH, in Colombia there are currently 25 current offshore contracts, of which 5 correspond to exploration and production contracts, 7 are technical evaluation and the rest are in the process of liquidation and termination.
