Officials in Canada are investigating the head-on collision between two cargo ships in Ontario’s Welland Canal on Saturday.
The vessels Alanis and Florence Spirit collided Saturday afternoon.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has sent a team of investigators to the scene.
The incident was caught on video by a passerby.
The Welland Canal is a 26-mile canal that connects Lake Erie with Lake Ontario.
The MV Alanis is a 12744 dwt general cargo ship flagged in Antigua Barbuda.
The MV Florence Spirit is registered in Canada and is 14,001 dwt.
The pilots of both vessels were reportedly in contact with each other prior to the collision.
