Navigation through the Suez Canal was briefly suspended Thursday after a ship ran aground. However, during that incident, traffic was able to resume through the waterway from an alternate route, the Suez Canal Authority [SCA] said in a statement.
According to reports, the vessel is a Panamanian-flagged Coral Crystal and had been refloated, SCA added. Shipping traffic has resumed.
Today’s incident comes nearly six months after Ever Given, one of the largest container ships ever built, got stuck in the canal for six days in March.
