Colombia: Strike ends at APM Terminals TCBuen
Strike ends at TCBuen: According to El País, the strike by the workers of TCbuen culminated this Thursday, after the intervention of the Deputy Minister of Labor, Carlos Baena, who was in recent days in Buenaventura attending the meetings between the two parties.
“The working shifts is 8 hours a day, 48 weekly, for special operations 12 hours paying extra hours of law, it was also defined a salary increase according to the CPI, with 2.20 more for people who earn less 4.5 minimum wages”, explained Esteban Barboza, national president of the Port Union.
Another point that was made was the disciplinary procedure that should be framed in the high courts, an aid for education and transportation was established.
Towards 4:30 in the afternoon of this Thursday, the Deputy Minister of Labor removed the seals that kept the port terminal closed and the strike that lasted for 16 days was terminated. In these almost two weeks all Maersk vessels had to be served at another port terminal in Buenaventura.
The port terminal will advance a contingency plan to evacuate the containers and merchandise that are inside the port terminal, as well as begin with the implementation of special operations to receive the vessels.
Among the points that will still continue in consultation, and that will be discussed in a committee of the parties, is the direct link of 130 workers who are with contracts every six months.
