Elevating Abu Dhabi’s Position as a Premier Healthcare Destination

etihad Cargo is stepping up its game in the cool chain sector, responding to the rising demand for temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals. The recent upgrade of its pharma hub in Abu Dhabi has considerably increased its storage and handling capabilities, aiming to enhance operations and service delivery for the global pharmaceutical industry.

Boosting Capacity

stanislas Brun, Vice President of Cargo at Etihad Cargo, highlighted how this expansion has improved operational efficiency: “by doubling our cool chain capacity, we can now manage larger quantities of temperature-sensitive medications while ensuring their safety. Our upgraded infrastructure and quicker processes help us reduce handling risks and strengthen our supply chain.”

In line with its dedication to product integrity,Etihad Cargo has not only expanded capacity but also added new stations and increased flight frequencies.

The quality of pharmaceutical shipments remains a top priority for Brun: “We strictly follow Good Distribution Practice (GDP) guidelines along with IATA CEIV Pharma standards. Our certified ground handlers are trained to meet etihad’s high expectations, and we invest in cutting-edge temperature monitoring technology to ensure safe transport.”

The airline’s growth within the pharmaceutical sector is fueled by a strong focus on customer satisfaction and customized solutions. “Our customers drive our success. Strategic investments in infrastructure, partnerships, and new trade routes have enhanced our ability to meet their needs,” Brun explained.

The airline has broadened its PharmaLife certified trade lanes to over 2,350 destinations, improving product traceability. “These certified routes provide better visibility for monitoring shipments which helps minimize temperature fluctuations,” he added.
