Revitalizing Rail: Kansas City’s West Bottoms to Launch Short-Haul Freight Services

In a recent development, Union pacific has teamed up with Jaguar Transport Holdings too enhance rail services in Kansas City, Missouri. This partnership will see the newly established Kansas City West Bottoms Railroad managing approximately 6 kilometers of track within the Central Industrial District.

The focus for Union Pacific will remain on long-haul operations, while Jaguar steps in to provide short-haul services five days a week. This collaboration aims to streamline logistics and improve efficiency for local businesses.

Jaguar is not just about rail; they also own a cold and dry storage facility right next to the tracks, with plans for a transload facility that’s almost ready. Tim Enayati, SVP of Commercial Development at Jaguar, highlighted that this agreement would open up new economic avenues and make it easier for businesses in the greater Kansas City area to connect with Union Pacific’s extensive rail network.
