IMO Secretary General Praises India’s Key Role In Green Shipping & Crew Welfare
International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez has praised India for its contributions to sustainable shipping, maritime security and seafarer welfare. His visit to India focused on strengthening collaboration between the IMO and the country’s maritime sector.
On the final day of his three-day visit, Dominguez met with officials from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) in New Delhi.
The discussions with MoPSW Secretary T.K. Ramachandran and other senior government officials focused on the development of the maritime sector, green shipping, sustainable port development and advanced technologies.
Dominguez acknowledged India’s role in global shipping and its commitment to environmental responsibility. He also reaffirmed the organisation’s support for India’s maritime initiatives, including skill development for seafarers and eco-friendly port modernisation.
