Fort Lee, NJ Leads List of Worst U.S. Traffic Bottlenecks
The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) has released its annual report on the worst traffic bottlenecks for trucks, and for the seventh year in a row, Fort Lee, New Jersey, is number one. The intersection of Interstate 95 and State Route 4 near the George Washington Bridge remains the biggest chokepoint for freight, highlighting how congestion continues to slow down supply chains.
ATRI’s report, which tracks traffic at over 325 highway locations, found that truck delays are getting worse. In 2024, the average rush hour speed for trucks dropped to 34.2 mph, a 3% decline from the previous year. The average speed was even lower in the top 10 worst locations, at just 29.7 m…
