Anthony Veder Enhances Fleet Connectivity with Inmarsat Nexus Wave Technology

Inmarsat Maritime, now part of Viasat, has struck an exciting partnership with Anthony Veder to enhance the connectivity of itS entire fleet by implementing inmarsat NexusWave. This upgrade is particularly important for Anthony Veder, a prominent player in the gas shipping industry known for transporting various gases like liquefied natural gas (LNG) and petrochemical gases. Their vessels, easily recognized by their ‘Coral’ prefix, navigate both coastal waters and deep seas where robust high-speed connectivity is crucial for effective communication.Having been a loyal customer of inmarsat Maritime and an early adopter of Fleet Xpress since its launch in 2016, Anthony Veder has substantially influenced the progress of NexusWave. Their involvement during initial discussions and beta testing was instrumental in tailoring this solution to meet the dynamic needs of contemporary shipping operations. NexusWave operates on a sophisticated bonded network that integrates GEO, LEO, and LTE services to ensure reliable high-speed connectivity—even in areas notorious for congestion—offering unlimited data access across the globe.

jos Kooij, who leads Digital Technology & Support at Anthony Veder, shared his insights: “Our early engagement with NexusWave’s concept development allowed us to help create a solution that aligns perfectly with today’s maritime demands. By merging satellite capabilities with terrestrial technology advancements, NexusWave truly delivers connected confidence. We’re especially impressed by how well it supports cloud-based applications and advanced operational technologies; it’s gone beyond what we anticipated.”

Another critical factor driving Anthony Veder’s decision to implement NexusWave fleetwide was their commitment to crew welfare alongside cybersecurity measures. with fast internet access akin to what one would expect at home or in an office setting onboard ships, they can comply with crew welfare regulations while also attracting top-notch maritime talent. The infrastructure is designed with security as a priority—featuring encrypted traffic flows—and includes separate networks for crew members and business operations which adds another layer of safety.

Benne Engelen, Chief Details Officer at Anthony Veder remarked: “After witnessing remarkable improvements during our trials—especially regarding simultaneous communications between crew members and operational teams—we decided on a full rollout of NexusWave across our fleet. The service offers unmatched continuity along with network segregation so that both leisure browsing and business tasks operate seamlessly as if you were back home or at your desk.”

Ab Argam from Inmarsat Maritime added: “The transition of Anthony Veder’s entire fleet to NexusWave marks just the start of their journey using this innovative solution. They are aligned with our ongoing technology roadmap which evolves continuously based on changing needs within the industry as well as new regulations coming into play.” He also hinted at future enhancements coming down the pipeline including ViaSat-3—a high-capacity service set to further boost connectivity options for customers like Anthony Veder.

This collaboration not only enhances operational efficiency but also fosters better working conditions aboard ships—a win-win situation that highlights how modern technology can bridge distances while keeping teams connected no matter where they are sailing!
