MSC and Maersk (including its Americas branch, Sealand Americas) will add a US Gulf port call of Mobile to their joint ‘Gulf to SAEC String 1/ UCLA’ service in the US Gulf May, says Alphaliner.
At the same time, an eighth vessel will be added to the service, to enable greater reliability and reduce carbon emissions through lower vessel speeds.’
From now on, the circuit will stop in Veracruz, Altamira, Houston, Mobile, Cristóbal, Cartagena (Col), Santos, Itapoa, Navegantes, Paranaguá, Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Cartagena (Col), Cristóbal, Veracruz. The service will continue to operate with a tonnage of 5,500 to 6,500 TEU. The first ship to call at Mobile will be the 6,492 teu ATHENS GLORY operated by MSC on May 26, 2023.
It is not yet clear whether ZIM, which sits on the service, marking its participation as ‘GBS’ (Gulf of Brazil Service), will participate in the new mobile call.
