Alibaba and Maersk are collaborating to help small businesses ship goods more easily and at lower costs. Alibaba.com buyers can now book Maersk shipping directly on the platform, simplifying business order management.
With a single click, buyers can reserve shipping space, lock in rates, and track shipments from the factory to delivery. The service covers both full container loads (FCL) and less-than-container loads (LCL) and handles shipments from 200 kilograms to 5 tons.
Real-time pricing will be available so businesses know exactly what they’re paying upfront. The service supports eight non-hazardous product categories, including apparel, machinery, home goods, and construction materials.
Alibaba.com says its goal is to eliminate middlemen, lower costs, and reduce the time it takes to book shipping from days to minutes. Businesses also get end-to-end tracking and automated compliance support to handle cross-border shipping paperwork.
“Most of our buyers are small businesses, and they often struggle with unclear pricing and complicated shipping processes,” Alibaba.com said. “This partnership gives them direct access to Maersk’s rates and simplifies the whole process, so they can spend less time worrying about shipping and more time running their business.”
