King Ocean Expands Dominican Republic Service with New Port Connection

King Ocean, a U.S. company that specializes in shipping goods within the Caribbean, has launched a new weekly service! This route will connect Port Everglades in Florida to Puerto Plata, a port in the northern Dominican Republic.

For this new loop, King Ocean is using a ship called the HOHEWIND, which can carry 326 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units, a measure of cargo capacity). The HOHEWIND was previously named ANJA, and King Ocean is chartering it from a German owner named Rass Schiffahrt.

This isn’t King Ocean’s first service to the Dominican Republic. They already offer a route from Port Everglades to Rio Haina (located in the south of the island) using two larger ships (each with a capacity of 966 TEUs) called HOHEPLATE and HOHEBANK. These ships are also chartered from Rass Schiffahrt.
