Supertransporte initiated investigation against Buenaventura port operator
The operator would have affected the port's services, for which it could face a fine equivalent to up to 35 days of gross income
The Superintendence of Transportation opened an investigation and issued a statement of charges against the company Protekto, operator of the Port of Buenaventura, who allegedly failed to provide an efficient and continuous service at the facilities of the Regional Port Society of Buenaventura S.A.
The inquiries arose after verifying that several transporters, who required the services of the company within the Port’s facilities, had to wait up to seven hours between June 8 and 14 for the installation of an electronic device that ensures the integrity of the cargo and its traceability within the facilities. It should be clarified that the estimated installation time of this device is only two minutes.
“We are going to carry out a verification campaign so that port companies and port operators are efficient and do not affect other actors, such as cargo owners, transporters or any other subject in the logistics chain,” commented Camilo Pabón, Superintendent of Transportation.
According to the entity, the port operator would have affected the port services, therefore it could face a fine for an equivalent of up to 35 days of gross income, which are calculated based on their income of the previous month, in addition to this the Supertransporte may order the suspension of the activities of the offender.
