In general, concessions and projects cover the entire maritime industry services, ranging from tourism to a regasification terminal in the Colombian Pacific ocean. Furthermore, these concessions, granted for public and private uses will benefit international and national companies, boosting the competitiveness of the reception and dispatch of cargo and passengers at the junction of means of maritime, fluvial and terrestrial transportation.
However, it should also be mentioned that this accelerated port development that forecasts the country must be accompanied by the respective institutions and sustainable development that globally the IMO promotes under its conventions and regulations. It is of vital importance that the rules of the game and parameters of sustainable commercial development are fulfilled in order to guarantee the viability of the operation of these ports, otherwise the damage that might be generated than the monetary profitability could be greater.

It is of vital importance that Colombia estabishes a maritime and port authority that looks after the commercial, institutional and environmental interests of this industry. That this authority be a hybrid collaboration Public-Private-Education very inclusive knowing that the sea belongs to everyone and does not belong to anyone at the same time. Finally, it would result in cooperation between sectors for productive sustainable development that would benefit the entire nation.
