MEXICO: HUTCHISON Ports invests US $ 400 million in its Veracruz terminal
HUTCHISON Ports invests US $ 400 million in Veracruz: Hutchison Ports, operators of fourth generation ports worldwide, invests 400 million dollars in its container terminal in Nuevo Puerto de Veractuz, one of the five that will operate (to move fluids, grains, minerals and mixed cargo) and that seeks to respond precisely to the saturation of the current site, where it mobilizes 900,000 TEU each year (cargo containers with a capacity of 20 feet or about six meters).
It is expected that in the first stage of operation, ie from 2019, its container terminal will be able to mobilize 1.4 million TEU each year and at the end of the second stage, it will be able to move a cargo volume equivalent to 2.5 million TEU.
For Hutchison Ports Veracruz, it is the most important port in the region, where it mobilizes 90% of cargo and also offers services from Manzanillo, Ensenada, Lázaro Cárdenas and Tula.
The company acquired two new dock cranes in order to accelerate the process of loading and unloading containers in the new port.
The equipment manufactured in China by the Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Company Limited brand cost approximately 10 million dollars each.
With a height of 48 meters and a range of up to 68 meters, this equipment will allow to reduce maneuvering times by interacting with the latest generation container vessels of 350m in length and over).
