Mark Drusch serves as the Chief Officer Cargo at Qatar Airways Cargo, steering the globe’s largest airfreight operation with a focus on innovation, efficiency, and customer-frist strategies. With years of experience in aviation under his belt, he’s propelling the cargo sector into a fresh phase of operational excellence and strategic expansion.

What stands out as your most unforgettable experience in air cargo?
It was definitely my first day on the job. I quickly realized how distinct it is from passenger travel. The fact that cargo only moves one way—unlike passengers who come and go—hit me hard. It was an eye-opener!

Is there a buzzword you can’t stand?
I really can’t stand “synergy” or “pivot.” They’ve become so cliché that they’ve lost all meaning.

If you had to choose between window or aisle seat?
No contest—window seat all the way! I’d even argue with my wife for it!

If stranded on a desert island, what three things woudl you take?
A stack of novels, some sunscreen to protect against those rays, and my favorite pillow for comfort.

Your guilty pleasure TV show or movie?
I have to confess—I’m a huge fan of The Office. The humor just gets me every time!

If you could implement one new rule in air cargo, what would it be?
I’d push for standardizing airway bills and product shipments across the board.

What’s your pick for best airport globally? Why?
No doubt about it—it’s Hamad International Airport in doha. It’s stunningly designed, spacious, has everything anyone could need, plus it’s super convenient to navigate. After traveling extensively worldwide, I can confidently say it’s unmatched.

How did you find your way into logistics and airfreight?
I stumbled into it! One day while chatting with Terry—my boss at the time—he asked if I wanted to lead cargo operations.Honestly hadn’t considered it before but thought why not? So here we are!
