CFS Launches Trinidad-Guyana Transport Service

Caribbean Feeder Services (CFS) has launched a weekly shuttle service connecting Point Lisas, Trinidad with Georgetown, Guyana. Until now, CFS connected Point Lisas to Georgetown with its Kingston-Trinidad-Guyana (‘GUYANA’) service, operated jointly with ZIM (‘GSE’). The removal of this leg allows CFS to add a call in Caucedo, as well as a second call in Bridgetown, Barbados, which no longer has its weekly loop of the Lower Caribbean and Guyana (“SURINAME”).

Meanwhile, the ‘SURINAME’ now serves Kingston, Caucedo, Point Lisas, Paramaribo, Point Lisas, Manzanillo (Panama), Kingston. This loop is operated with three vessels of 1,200 to 1,800 teu.

CMA CGM adds St Laurent du Maroni call to the Guyanas-Caribbean service

CMA CGM will add a monthly call to the port of St Laurent du Maroni in French Guiana to its weekly ‘Guianas – Caribbean 2’ service this month.

The extended service will call at Port of Spain, Georgetown, St Laurent du Maroni, Port of Spain, using the existing vessel on the circuit, the 167 teu CEDRIC K.

The service will continue to connect in Port of Spain with CMA CGM’s ‘NEFGUI’ Europe – Guyana-North Brazil service, operated jointly with Marfret, as well as with other world destinations offered by CMA CGM’s long-distance network.

St Laurent du Maroni is a small, shallow-draft port located on the Maroni River near the border with Suriname, 161 miles northwest of Degrad des Cannes (Cayenne), the main port of French Guiana. It mainly attracts calls by general cargo and multi-purpose vessels, such as those deployed by the French operator Soreidom with its Europe-Caribbean and Guyanas bulk cargo service.
