COLOMBIA: The first Colombian infected with Coronavirus is confirmed

The Foreign Ministry confirmed that there is already a Colombian citizen infected with the Coronavirus.


According to information from EL COLOMBIANO, this is a man who is part of the crew of a cruise ship that is in quarantine in Yokohama, Japan.

The cruise, from the Princess Cruises company, is under the control of the Japanese authorities, after confirming that a large part of the more than 3,000 people who moved there as passengers had symptoms of the disease.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “the Embassy in Japan has been in permanent contact with the national and provides assistance that he may require. It was learned from the Embassy that the Coronavirus test (COVID-19) that was carried out on the boat was positive and that the Colombian will be landed as a precaution, following local medical protocols. ”

Add the official statement that to date, there is no record of any other Colombian citizen in Japan with situations related to Coronavirus.

United States evacuated its citizens
The United States proceeded to repatriate some 380 citizens of its country and their relatives who were on the cruise in the Japanese port.

In addition to repatriated US citizens, another 44 who were at the Diamond Princess and tested positive for the new coronavirus will remain in hospitals in Japan where they have been hospitalized, according to local media.
