In the port terminal of Contecar, in Cartagena Colombia, a mobile crane collapsed. According to information from employees of the terminal, the accident occurs when one of the STS cranes made a Gantry movement (lateral movement on its rails) and hits the boom of the Mobile Crane with its Back Reach (rear part of the STS) .
In the accident, an employee of the Seimar company died and two other people who were injured are treated at a medical center in the city and are out of danger, reported the terminal.
A forensic team from the Prosecutor’s Investigation Technical Corps arrived at the scene of the accident, which occurred on Thursday afternoon.
“Contecar deeply regrets this fact, stands in solidarity with the families of those affected and will be attentive to provide all their support. The Seimar company has already contacted the family of the affected,” reported The terminal.
Contecar informed that it has always ensured the safety of its employees, and understands that the human team is the most important of the company.
